The fint all-Negro team over to
enter the Classic Division of the A
merican Bowling Congress Tourna
ment is being sponsored by Don
Scott, a member of the AMT Staff
of Champions.
Scott will serve as captain of the
five-man team from Cleveland,
Ohio, which includes a member who
was taught to bowl by Scott only
three years ago. All members of
the squad, which has a 200 average,
bowl in the All-Star Singles and
Doubles Classic leagues in Cleve
land.
The team is composed of Larry
Polk. 39. who was Scott’s pupil S
years ago and who now maintains
a 199 average; Howard Sweeney,
25, with a 194 average; Reginald
Douglas, S 3, with a 199 average;
Brady Walker. 38, with a 210 av
erage; and Scott, who maintains a
309 average.
Scott has been bowling for the
past 30 years. He Is one of three
Negro members of the famed AMT

State College basketball Tigers de
feated the Arkansas AM&N Golden
Lions in a breete 101-80 Monday
night in a Southwest Athletic Con
ference contest. The Tigers led 48-
18 at th* intermission. The Lions
had won a gam* player earlier on
their home court 81-80.
Don Smith led the Tigers* of
tensive, hitting 90 points. Bob Frith
was second with 22 points while
Jerry Yarbrough scored 18 points.
, Jamas Allen led the Lions' scor
ing with 99 points. Ronald Taylor
was second with 19.
