After a lengthy business meet ing, each member greeted Mes dames Addie Harris and Geneva Brown with beautiful gifts, because It was their birthdays. The numbers next played two games of Pokena. Mrs. Cornelia Cobb was awarded a prize for the high score and Mrs. Nan Robinson was awarded a prize far the low score. THE CHARMETTES SOCIAL CLUB The Charmettes met at the horns of Mrs. Tula Williams, January 21 We discussed our coming Bam Dance, which will be held on Feb. 21. After the business session, the members srgig “Happy Bltrhday” to Mrs. Tula Williams and presented her with beautiful and useful gifts. A delightful repast was served by the hostess and was enjoyed by all. The next meeting Is scheduled to be held at the home of Mrs. Betty Rogers, 711 Jamaica Drive, on Feb. 3. We are asking that all members be present THE MINISTERS’ MTVEA ALLIANCE t The Ministers' Wives Alliance met at the YWCA on E. Davie St., recently. The meeting was enjoyed by sIL VICTORIAN CLUB MEETING Mrs. Blanche Rivers of 1617 E. Martin Street entertained the Vic torian Club members at her home last Saturday evening. The pre business chatter was of her beau tiful home our first meeting there—and of the gala Christmas party. Mrs. Dorothy Baker Houaen, president, presided over the brief business session. Mesdames Amelia Byers and Marguerite Exum Joined the mem bers as guests of Mrs. Rivers for the social session. A miniature parasol was attach ed to each tally. Tallies were drawn and several progressions of pinochle played. Phyllis Hay wood was high score prise winner arid Ludelle Delany was low soore prise winner. And. winners they were for the prise* were Items from Nassau In the Bahamas where the hostess had visited. The hostess was then given her array of presents from "Raleigh In North Carolina." PAUL’S CHURCH The Emergency Club met at the home of Mrs. Lucy Hawes, 726 S. Sanders St. Wednesday, January 22. Tha first meeting of the new year was opened by the chaplain with singing "What a Prtend We Have tn Jesus", then Mrs. Williams read a beautiful poem: ‘‘What Is Prayer,” Rev. Penn led In prayer. During the buitness session. Rev. Penn told about the Bishops Coun cil's meeting 'to be held In New Orleans, starting Feb. 18; and he hopes to attend. The General Con ference will b* held In Cincinnati, Ohio about th* latter part of May. After the collection dues and re peating bibl* verses, the hostem served a very tasty menu. Called -A Tribute to Sam," the observance will honor Samuel W. Hill, assistant pro fessor of music and director of the choir, for his leader ship of the the group. Clinton Wilson, a Junior at N CC and chairman of the Reunion Committee, said that In addition to honoring Hill, “who has devot ed so many years of work and tireless energy to the people of his choir,” the reunion also has as its purpose the gathering of all choir members from 1949 to 1964 for “a weekend of remi Jscing, fun, and paying tributes to outstanding a lumni of the choir.” The three-day occasion, to which former choir members dur ing the 15-year period will be In vited. will begin Friday. Feb. 7, with registration from 1 to 6 p. m. In the Fine Arte Bullllng. A concert by the college choir (open to the public) at 8:15 p. m. will be followed by a reception and a semi-formal dance. Saturday’s activities, which will begin with additional registration from 9-10 a. m., will be highlight ed by a formal testimonial dinner and a formal ball in the evening.
