Beat until wall blended. Add Carnation, water and vanilla. Beat until mixed. Pour Into buttered 8" x 8* x V |lui dish. Place In larger pan about 2H inches deep. Pour hot water around custard dish. Bake in moderat* oven (3SO°F.) about 40 to 45 minutes (or until knife inserted in custard comes out . dean). Remove from water. Cool thoroughly. Gently spread cherry pie filling over top of custard. Beat egg whites until frothy. Gradually add hi cup sugar and hi teaspoon salt. Con* tlnue beating until meringue stands in stiff peaks. Spread carefully on top of cherry filling.
