Using as her topic, “The Need for
Heightening Aspirations.” Dr. Play
er told the seniors that their acade
mic attire was not only symbolic
of achievement, but inspirational
for underclasswomen.
“The college.” the said, “haa
done all that it can to help
yon to aspire. It haa (ought to
whot your appetite and to ratee
your sights. We hope that wo
have provided enough selective
content to help you discover
yourself and to relate your
self to other*. Wa have sought
to help you to develop a sens*
of values.”
Pointing out that there is a ten
dency today for some persons to
look upon an easy life after many '
years of struggle, and. therefore, ;
to have low levels of aspiration.
Dr. Player warned against “decep- j
tive ease”. She urged obedience to
seif, to truth and to responsibility.
"Your chief resource." she stated,
“is the individual's desire to achieve
a meaningful and purposeful Ilf*.
Supported by what ydu have learn
ed, dreaming of what you would
become an driven by a passionate
desire to serve, reach ever upward,
beginning with the heart”
In the yean preceding the Amer
