THE CAROLINIAN
WEEKLY MEDITATION
BT COLIN DOUGLAS
"Ask, and It shall be given
you: seek, and ye shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened
unto you.”—Matt. 7:~
No person should allow himself
to feel forlorn or without useful
ness, just because one phase of his
life has come to an end or ceases to
produce satisfaction The oppor
tunities for satisfying self-expres
sion or for usefulness in Gods
world are without number. No life
has a stopping place or a giving-up
place. is no life that is
sterile or without meaning There
is always an opportunity for fulfill
ment There is always a new door
to open and to reveal new interests,
new usefulness, new opportunities.
If what you need is a new door to
open, then consider some of the
phases of living that hold interest
for you. In every phase of living
thera is a need and a welcome for
i those who sincerely want to take
| part and to contribute thought and
effort.
When your life needs new direc
; tion, new stimulus, there is a door
to open that will five your life

speaking out of the midat of the
fire, as though hast heard . . .?"
Moses referred, of course to the !
giving of the law. when God spoke j
to Israel by word of mouth amid J
the lightnings and thunders of
Sinai. In Isreal s case alone "God
spake all these words audibly.
Never before had He undertaken to
address a nation personally.
This was indeed a great honor for
Israel, but God has since spoken to
all mankind in an even more strik
ing manner, for in Heb. 1:1.2 we
read;
"God . . . hath in these last days
spoken unto us in His Son who
when He had by Himself purg
ed out juris, sal down at the right
hand of the Majesty on high "
At Sinai God spoke the words of
the I,AW. but now, in Christ, He
speaks of MKKCY and GRACE.
There He spoke of the righteous
ness which He DEMANDS; but
here He tells of the nghteoasness
whic h He PROVIDES in Christ.
Some suppose that (he absence of
miraculous demonstrations, the
want of divine intervention in the
affairs cif men. etc. indicate indif
feience on God s part, but actually
this appaicut indifference speaks to
us of Ills love and grace
