Pratt that she and her boyfriend, Michael Montague, of 1235 New Bern Avenue, had been to a baseball game at Chavis Park, left the game and went on the campus of the John W. Ligon Junior-Senior High School. Miss Smith stated Montague left her at the school, and added that she started to walk home. “1 was on my way’ through Chavis Parte,” said the girl, “when a colored boy around 20 or 21 years of age, jumped out of some bushes and grabbed me."
