A. Stroud, presiding elder, Mrs. Addle G. Log- j an. District Superintendent, Mrs. ; Lillian Harris. Asst. Superintendent i and Rev. B. S. Foust, Host Pastor. ' Thuraday morning, July 9, at 10 a m. the opening program of de- j votion wai led by Revs. L. S. Penn and J. F Epps, both of Raleigh. I The enrollment, organization, and appointment of committees were made by the preaiding elder. Mias Annie Mae Arrington of St James AME Church, Method, was elected secretary, and Mrs. Mary Alice Wood* of Aberdeen, aaeistant secretary. All charges wers reported in full which made the financial and bualneas *ea»ions a success. The naan massage was deliv ered by Rev. J.. H. Gsrrtet, whs Is the paster of the Lhsealavllla Circuit. The Institute greupa were under the direct!an of Rev. L. I. Penn, ether ministers and seniors. The Juniors and Intermediate* ware under the direction of Rev. J. P. Epps, and the Primary was under the direction of Mrs. Lilli* M. Hodge. The recreation wa* under the tnpervision of Miss Mae N Hopson es Cary, who eomposed the Sunday •School theme song, which was ded icated to the Rev. C A Stroud who has the youth at heart. The student* were taught the basic needs, "to know more about the Bible and tn know your church” in order that they might learn more about the Bible and the AME Church This was also taught in order that they might become use ful ehristians of tomorrow. Tlie annual itinion was de livered by Rev. Isaac Irving, pastor of the Laurlnburg Clr eult. Hi* text waa taken fram the 14 rhapter of Exodus and the 29 verse. The welcome pro gram waa under' the super vision es the pastor In charge. The music wa* furnished by the aenlur choir of Mt. Sinai AME Churrh. The words of welcome on behalf of tho church were given by Mm. Mildred Rtmoey. Other welrome addresses were given by Mr. I. E. Taylor, Attorney E. B. Hatch, end Rev. j Gilbert Mr Rev. J. N. Shram, pastor of St. James gave a beau tiful response to the welcomes Afterwards o sola was render ed by Mias L. C. Alston. The delegation wa* happy to have the presence of Dr J D Davis, Dr. C C Scott, Dr. P B Walker. Rev J D Treadwell, Rev M L Johnson, Rev C A Holt. "What The AME Church Can Do To Live In A Changing Society" Diane Daniel from Aberdeen won tha first prize for the speaker* contest Sharon Taylor from St James won the second prize and Edgar Heater j won the third prize Mrs Addle Logan made • fine report for the district Sunday was s high day with a well attended Sunday School Mrs Logan was in charge At II * m the sermon was delivered by Rev.
