The appointmenta were an nounced thia week by Dr. Lewi* C. Dowdy, president of the college. Included are five former mem ber* of the faculty who have been away on special asalgment or for further study. The list includes Dr. Prenise A. Logan, newly appointed chairman of the Department of So cial Sciences, who has just return ed from a two-year assignment at Madras, India, as chief cultural af fairs officer for the United States Information Service. Those returning following study leaves are: Dr. James A. Williams. Jr., professor of biology: Dr. Wil liam A. The panel’s report, newly published by the United Na tions World Health Organiza tion (WHO), stresses these points: —Exercise is essential for eld erly persons to offset reduced physical activity resulting from technical progress. -A balanced diet-with spe cial attention to iron, vitamin and calcium deficiencies—is as important for the elderly „s it is for the young. —No retirement plea should involve complete work stop page, although the type of work for the elderly must obviously be lighter.
