Pittaboro, N. C. Chatham County Community In an nouncing the 15th Anual Chatham County Pair, which began here Monday, September 7, and will con tinue through Saturday, September 12. Several thousand North Caro linians of both races are expected to attend. One of the highlights of the six day event was the eliminations contest for the Annual "Miss Pied mont" event, which began at 8:15 p. m. Monday. At 7:30 p. m. on Tuesday, a talent contest was held with prizes being awarded by the Durham, Raleigh and Charlotte branches of the Mechanics and Farmers Bank. Wednesday waa Education Day at the Fair and all school children were admitted free un tll 9: p. m. Rides were reduced by Barstow Amusements, which furnished many entertainments for the event. High School Challenge: "Seer* The Scholar," waa presented at 8:18 p. m. Wednesday. On Friday, September 11, Young North Carolinian's Day will be pre sented, and school children of all counties (except Chatham) will be admitted free until 0: p. m. The finals of the “Miss Pied mont" Beauty Contest will be gin at 8:15 p. m. Friday, and prises for this affair will bo donated by the North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Com pany, whose president is Asa T, Spaulding. All school children of the State will be admitted free of charge again on Saturday until 4: p. m. Some of the noted features of the Fair include a contest in Home Demonstration Garden Vegetables, with three prizes being given by the Mutual Savings and Loan As sociation of Durham, whose pres ident is J. S. Stewart; Home Dem onstration 3-Jar Contest, with 3 prizes being awarded by the A merican Federal Savings and Loan Association, whose president is J. Kenneth Lee; Junior Canning Con test, with Union Insurance and Realty Company of Durham, a warding first prize. H, M. Michaux is vice-president and secretary of his firm. A 4-H clothing contest tor the best dress or suit also was on the program. The Bull City Barber Col lege of Durham awarded prizes in this category. Mrs. Evelyn Artis Drake is president of the College. The Fair was concluded with a 4-H Cornmeal Muffins Colftest with cash awards to be given in 8 cate gories. MONEY may not bring happiness but it brings such a good imitation that it is often hard to tell it from the real thing.
