H 1 has from the first shown a great anxiety to get ofBee and to retain office, and has not refused to countenance the most depraved and dis graceful methods' He used the rascal Quay in 1888, and he permitted the high office of President to be boughtfor him as he would buy a hat. He rewarded the chief boo dler, Wnnaniaker. thearrant hypocrite, with a cabinet ap pointment. Wuny is sograttf ful for past favors and anx ious for new, he is now begin ning again to bring into ex orcise his successful old meth ods of raising boodle by fat frying find other tried plans. Wana and Martin are a fine pair of political bush-whackers ad plug-uglies. There in no greater adebt in Quay's methods than Davennd there is no one more practiced in deceiving than Wariy. They constitute the two faithful and unscrupulous helpers of the Sabbath breaking Harri son. The Installing of Dave Mar tin, one of the best known Philadelphia repeaters and scamps, as boss at headquar ters is another revelation of the abandoned life and des perate condition of R e n n y Harrison. Martin is a slug ger of rare political experi ence, and if the election is to lie carried by the old meth ods of the republicans he will d ) the work with zeal and effectiveness. Here is a brief biogriphy of this debauched wretch w e take from the World: ''William Mai"v!y was out of Mai tin's repeaters. He' swore that he vas hired to go from poll to poll voting on other men's names. He made affidavit that one year he was employed by a mail named Rittenhouse, who af ter the election gave him il ''due bill which wasdrawnon David Martin." "Said Mar tin," he continued, "is the! man w ho has heretofore paid said witness for work of tliis character at elections; the practice was that for" eVer.y fraudulent vote we put in wo got a blue check that was to represent 1, and after flec tion, or as soon ns the votert were in. we could go and get ft In piece for so many blue checks as we held; that said checks wer cashed by Dave? Martin." iVilham Ouildy swore that Rittenhouse hired him in '83 and agreed to pay him $2.50 for every fraudulent vote he put in. This was the order he received: "Mr. David Martin, pleastf pay to bearer for your votes P. II." 1 he orders that are drawn on Martin this year will be paid from funds supplied by republicans who insist that they are respectable." This was all known to Hnr i ison when he chose him id act for him in thidcampiM;
