We New Englanders do not take the third term talk seriously lint we do believe that the East can and wjll, present some very strong Iffunes at ih National .Convention. To my mind Wbitney is a strong man andDlney is an other. 1 think that thnv art the Iealig men in the East, but it is difhVnlt at this time to say which is the best to make the rare." A movement is on foot to hold a joint caucus of demo era tic senators and represen tatives for the purpose of try ing -to harmonize existing differences in democratic ranks and to agree upon come line of poliey to be fol lowed both House and Sen ate during the present ses-sion-of Congress. Represen tative Stallingsof Alabama who is one of this movement says: '.There, is really one quention regaidingwhich the democrats are badly divided. That is the money question, and if we can reach some sat isfactory agreement by which it may be eliminated from our discussions fo'r the pres ent, there is no reason why we should not get together and present asolid front to the republicans. I am in fa vor of free coinage, but I do not believe the discussion 'of that ore question can ad vance the cause of silver nor, while its disorganizing effect is extremely hurt hi to the party and the South. I would, be in favor if a cm feience of the whole party in Congress can be arranged of having a committe ap pointed to confer with the President and Secretary Car lisle regarding the steps nec essary to secure a degree of harmony and establish a pol icy upon which we can all u nite."
