He is indeed a very pleasant gentleman. -Miss Nellie Blair, of North Wilkesboro, who has many friends and relatives in Wa tauga, was married on the evening of the 26th ult. to Mr. J. L. H.C.Martin, of Lenoir, editor of the Semi-Weekly News, wasjn town this week in the interest of his paper and taking orders for job work. His job work is neatly executed; his paper is an up to date sheet, and we are in deed pleased to know that his trip among us was a suc cessful one. Prof. Lindeey Hamby, ol Idlewild, Ashe county, was married on Tuesday to Miss Phillips, daughter of James Phillips, of Riverside. The bride and groom spent Tues day night at the Coffey Ho tel in Boone and left Wednes day morning for one of the western states, where, we a re informed they will maketheir future home. The law firm of Todd & Pell, of Jefferson announce their intention of practicing regularly in this court hereaf ter, and print their card in this issue. Capt. Todd has long been onp of theforemost lawyers in this sect ion, ard is well known to onr citizens. Mr. Pell is a brother to Rev. R. P. Pell, who long preach ed in this county. He was ed ucated at Trinity College and Georgetown University Wash ington, D. C, taking ihe de gree of L. L. B. at the latter institution. He was Reading Clerk of the State Senate of '91 und '93.
