Com. The condition o f North Carolina, should the amend ment to the constitution fail tofbe adopted, would indeed be horrible. All the states in the south that have a heavy negro vote, have enacted laws for the purpose of elini inating the negro from poli tics, and should North Caro lina fail, what would be the suit? We would have, nat nrally, an influx of negroes rom South Carolina, Louis iana, Mississippi, Georgia, and, in fact, from all the oth er states, into North Carolina that would fill her from cen ter to circumference witn a horde of hungrv coons seek ing protection within our borders that Would be a last ing disgrace to the Stateand a menace to the Anglo Sa sons here. We know nothing of negro rule in western North Carolina, out let this meas hre fail, and we will, too late to amend it, be overridden by insolent and corrupt ne I .a gioes, who win come even tc our murth loyed Watauga, asking for office and power; nhould their numbers be suf ficient, our county offices will be filled by negroes. This is no scare crow, but an actual fact, and Reserves the most serious consideration of ev ery white voter in Watauga county. .Defent the amend ment, and the negro gets full control in North Carolina. These arestubborn facts, and thetppo8ition to the amend ment well know it. Listen not to their deceptive argu mentsthat are made only for the purpose of adding sheckles to the store of office holding and office-seeking re publicans, but think bryour selves, and when you do that, North Carolina i s forever wrenched fiom the bands of the necrro party.
