Moody of Vilas is a patient at a Charlotte Hospital where he has been undergoing treatment for the past two weeks. Information is that the popular former sheriff is showing a degree of improvement but j that he will not return home for some j time. Miss Ruby Hodges, who has spent the past several months in Southern Pines, returned to the home of her sister, Mrs. James Carter, here Sunday evening Miss Hodges has been suffering frt .n inflammatory rheumatism for the past three weeks, and her condition shows little improvement. Hal Bingham, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Bingham, was stricken with ap- j pendicitis at a Boy Scout camp near! Winston-Salem Friday morning. He was taken to the Baptist Hospital where he underwent an emergency operation, and his condition is said to be rapidly improving. He will probably be returned to his home here the j latter rinrt r?f tViIc xweAr Mrs. Frank Williams Entertains Maids and Matrons Club. Mrs. Frank Williams entertained at bridge Tuesday evening, her guests being members of the Maids and Matrons Club and a number of other friends. Four tables of contract were in play in the living room and reception hall, which were arranged with a variety of colorful spring flowers. After four progressions, attractive gifts were presented to the club member and guest holding highest score, and an appetizing salad course was served. Those playing were: Mesdames A. R. Miss Witma Cook is suffering from a very badly fractured ankle caused by a jump last Saturday afternoon. LUTHER GREENE Luther Greene. IS, who was seriously injured in an affray four weeks ago, died Monday in the Wilkes Hospital, where he has been a patient since then. His condition was very serious from the beginning and little hope was held for his recovery. Luther was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Clenard Greene of Stony Fork and is survived by tHe parents and the following brothers and sisters: Chilo, Ernest and Arnold Greene, Mrs. Henry Smith, Mrs. Isaac Smith and Mrs. Lawrence Greene, all of Stony Fork.
