C., is spending several 1 days in the home of Mrs. H. Neal Blair on Route 1. Mr. J. Paul Fox, a graduate of A. S. T. C., is now located in Frank- j lin County as chief engineer of the j Soil Conservation Service. Miss Jennie Coffey has treated her j store and apartment building to a new coat of paint, adding much to the appearance of the structure. Mr. W. F. Miller Jr. is a patient at the Davis Hospital, Statesville, recovering from an appendix operation performed lest week. His condition is said to be favorable. Miss Vivian Carter returned to her home ir. Boone yesterday from Grace Hospital, Banner Elk, arid is recovering rapidly from an appendix oper ation recent'y pci formed. Mr. W. E. Shipley of Vilas suffered a slight stroke of paralysis a few days ago, but was able to be in town Saturday. He is not thought to have been permanently injured. Mr. Thomas B. Hayes of Route 2 is a patient at the Government hospital at Oteen, and is described as 1 being quite ill, there being little im- j provcment noted in his condition. The American 1region Auxiliary will meet Friday night, August 2nd, at the home of Mrs. Lionel Ward, with Mrs. Joe McNeil as associate hostess. All members are invited to attend. Mrs. A. M. Critcher of Blowing Rock, who has been seriously ill for c the past several week3, is reported f as unimproved, and friends of the popular lady are much concerned v over her indisposition.
