January 24, the Blue Devils will play Bethel in the high school gyni at Cove Creek. Everybody come out and see these games as they will be very close and very exciting. Teachers to Write Articles The teachers in Appalachian high school, beginning next week, will write several articles. These articles rre to be about any phase of their work and will explain how the work of Appalachian high school Is carried on. As they are written by the teachers they will have no connection at all with the Boone Jfigh Life which is weekly published in the Watauga Democrat. So next week, when you get your Democrat do not look under the Boone H3gh Bite to find these articles but elsewhere ir. the paper. Window Shades Kewived During the first week of school after the Christmas holidays the school received window shades for the rooms that have had trouble with the sun shining in. especially in the afternoon. These shades are adjustable, which will enable the rooms to have light, but will also keep the sun out. Students Keenly? Pictures During the first week of school the students had their pictures made at the school by the Stra\vl>erry Finishing Service of Durham. They arrived last week. Most of them were satisfactory but some were returned. An identification picture of each, stu<Jent will be kept on file in the office for future reference. Distinction List This is the same as an honor roil in most schools but much harder to make. A student must have no bad citations, perfect attendance, make satisfactory grades, be approved by the faculty, and carry on satisfactory work Ln extra-curricular activities. Since making good grades <1 peed upon your own achievement it. is more or less up to the individual to umkt this distinction list. woiinvving is tile list of pupil nali? irtsr fhe :i$t .for thc-j. Brawner. general traffic manager of the Atlantic Greyhound lines, has announced widespread bus fare reductions, effective January 16. The cost of travel to literally thousands of places?large cities and crossroads towns alike?are cut considerably. Since Greyhound transportation, even before the fares were lowered, cost less than any other type of transportation, this new reduction is naturally a matter of more than ordinary interest to all travelers. The public's reaction to the lower rates will undoubtedy first be reflected in an increase of bys traffic tc the Florida and Culf coast resorts. Although Grevhound hns airondv augmented its service to these midwinter vacation areas to care for normally increased business at this time of year, it is expected that still further additions will have to be made to handle extra numbers of travelers who will take immediate advantage of the new rate cuts.
