FEBRUARY 16, 1939 Valle Crucis News The Fareut-Teaclier Association of the Valle Crucis public school held <m enjoyable meeting last Friday afternoon. A. program which was presented by members of the first grade was enjoyed by all. Students from other grades assisting in the program were: Carl Clark, Mary Hazel Farthing. Cliloe Story, Dovie Townscnd, Margaret Taylor and Blanche Greene. Those present for the meeting Included: Mrs. W. \V. Mast. Mrs. Howard Mast, H. W. Mast, Mesdames Jennie May, Henry Taylor, Ralph Church, Howard Edmisten, Miss Lucile Mast, Clin! Baird, Grace Maltha, Russell Henson, Miss Diana Harman. Miss L.ucilc Mast's grade won the flag given each month bv the association. The pro gram for the next meeting will be ir charge of the parents. Miss Gladys Taylor left Saturday lor Chicago where she will spend o short time visiting at the home of a slater. Mr. Edward Baird has enlercd the Dr. Sloan Clinic in Charlotte, where he is to have a cataract removed from the eye. Mrs. T. D. Kerley and family. Mrs J. E. Hampton and Vance Hartley visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs Claud Clarke. Mrs. Minnie Shipley of Virginia, is at the bedside of her mother. Mrs J. A. Woody, who has been ill for some time. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Baird had as dinner guests Sunday, Mr. and Mrs D. C. Mast, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Morton, Mr and Mrs. W. W. Mast, Mr. and Mrs. J. M Shull, Mrs. Luis Moore of Lenoir, and Mr. J. T. Mast, Jr., has been confined to hi3 home for the past week with a case of mumps. Mrs. Hod Clark went to Charlotte [ Sunday for a medical examination. Mr. a. a. Mast, who has been a 1 patient at the Watauga Hospital.for the past few weeks, has returned to 1 the valley to recuperate. Mr. and Mrs. Ira T. Johnston and son, Mrs. W. B. Austin and son of West Jefferson, and Mrs. Lula Moore of Lenoir, visited Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Shull.
