State College, has an nounced an essay contest for tarn boys and girls, the winners of whicl will receive purebred dairy animal: and a possible trip to the nationa dairy show. The contest :s being sponsored b\ the five purebred dairy cattle asso ciations and the Southern Planter: magazine of Richmond. Va. Th< competition is being announced for mally in the March issue of th( magazine. Boys and girls between the age: of 13 and 20. inclusive, are eligibh to compete. Winning essays in the circulation area of the Southern Pianter will be entered in a national contest, and the national winner will receive, in addition to his or her registered bull calf, an all-expense trip to the national dairy show to be held at Memphis this fall. STATE REVENUE REPORTED HIGH FOR FEBRUARY Revenue collections in North Carolina during February increased 18 per cent over collections in February. 1940. A. J. Band Club Formed Mothers and friends of those who are members of the Cove Creek t school band met at the home of I Mrs. Herbert Nobles on Tuesday evening for the purpose of organizing a club. Mrs. Coy Billings was elected president and several com, mittees were appointed. Those present were enthusiastic over the progress tile band has made under the leadership of Mrs. Fletcher and they hope by this organization to be able to co-operate in every way possible with the band.
