Service Officer In Christina* Message To World 'War Vets R (By Lionel Ward, County Service Officer) To Mr. Elihu Luther, the only Civil War veteran in Watauga county, I want to express a sincere Merry Christmas wish, with the hope that this aged gentleman may experience many more happy Chriftmases. To the Spanish War Veterans, World War I veterans, and those who have just vanquished our enemies in the second world con flict, I want to bid you Godspeed, and to wish you a Merry Christmas and an early return home. At this time we should be mind ful of the following who have paid the supreme sacrifice. Services Held For Roy Reece, 70 Funeral services for Roy Reece, 70, who died in a Bristol, Va., hospital on Tuesday, were conducted from Zionville church Friday afternoon by Rev. Mr. Whitson of Bristol, Va., and Rev. R. C. Eggers, of Zionville, with Cook Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Zionville cemetery. Surviving Mr. Reece are his wife, Mra. Belle Y ounce Reece, of Bristol; three sons, Burnam Reect, of Chuck ey, Tenn.; Earl Reece, of Mountain City, Tenn., and Lester Reece, of Bristol; four daughters, Mrs. Rich ard Patrick, Mrs. Charles Richards and Mary Reece of Bristol, and Mrs. Jack Walker of Chucky; also a sis ter and brother survive, who are Mrs. Ben Culler of Zionville, and Smith Reece of Chucky, Tenn. Mr. Reece, who had been in poor health for several months, only be came seriously ill on Monday when he was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed. Mr. Reece was a native of Watau ga county, where his friends will hear of his death with sorrow. The food shipped to Russia by the U. S. in lend-lease from 1941 to 1945, is valued at $1,473,000,000.
