? . Basketball Tourney Is Played At Bethel The intramural basketball tournament was played this week. Team* entering were from the 7th through the 12th. Each day two (a mas were played. On. Monday, the senior girls defeat ad the 10th grade, the score was SI -11. The Mi grade boys loat to the 10th grade, the aeore be * lng 54-7. Tueaday, the Junior girls upset the 7th grade by a 38-19 count The Junior boys were down by the seniors, 16-1. Wednesday the senior girls beat the 0th grade by a score of 46-14. The 8th grade lost to the 10th grade boys, 24-8. On Thursday the Junior girls beat the 8th grade 80-11. The 7th grade boy* were topped by the senior bays by a 28-20 win. The previous games led to Fridays final*. The senior girl* won over the Junior girl* by a score of 17-18 and the Senior boys beat the 10th grade. 82-20. This is the second year the senior boys and girl* have won the tournament Chapel Program The girls chorus presented the chapel program on Friday. Joyce Hodges gave the devotional. The chorus sang "It Is no Secret," "Goodby My Lover." "A Merry Life," and "All Through The Night" Evelyn Matheaon accom panied at the piano. Maud Wil son and Evelyn Matheson played a piano duet "Down Yonder" and Maude Wilsonp layed "Under the Double Eagle." Isciad and Third Grades Some in our room have been sick. They are Lee Warren, Hazel Wilson and Mildred Arnette. We are studying about birds, and we are making a pretty bird book of our favorite ones. Our grade mothers for the rest of the school year is Mrs. Floyd Warren and Mrs. J. H. Gentry. Fifth Grade Several pupils had influenza and were absent last week but most of them are back in school now. Our teacher was sick too, with flu. We are working hard these days, especially on the "three It's." We are entering an art con test in Boone on April 19th. We already have our entries ready to send In. we are weu pieaseo wnn our new library books. We really en joy raadta* them. Nh find* We are glad to hava Shirley Trtvette back In school after a few days 111 net*. Glenn Greene is out of school due to Influenza. We hope ho will be back soon. We have decorated our bulle tin boards with selections from our art work, some p ratty spring pictures, and on the other one contains our work on North Car olina. Mrs. D. M. Edmisten, county supervisor, visited us on Monday. We were proud to have her visit | our school and hop* she will com* again soon. Mrs. Danner Dies In Narrows, Va. Mrs Rebecca Danner. aged ?7, formerly of Watauga County, died at the home of h*r daugh ter, Mrs. Earl Wagner, of Nar rows, Virginia, Saturday after noon, March II. Five grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held at the Wagner residence Monday at 3 p. m. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery. The Rev. H. H.
