In the special service Sunday
the Rev Troutman will be paid
special homage for the fine Chris
tian service he has given the
community of Boone and Wa
tauga County. Many leading cit
izens will be present and several
will speak on the program.

view the history of the church;

speak in behalf of the Town of
Boone; Mrs. Clyde WiMbarger
who will speak in behalf of the
Woman's Missionary Society; Dr.
J. D. Rankin who will speak in
behalf of Appalachian State
Teachers College; Or. John G.
Barden who will speak for the
Ministerial Association of Boone
and Watauga County; Mr. Clyde
R. Greene who will speak for the
business people of Boune; J. E.
Holshouser who will speak in be
half of the professional people;
Wade E. Brown who will speak
for the Parent Teacher Associa
tion; and Dr. Herbert Wey who
will serve as master of ceremo
nies.
In addition to these local peo
ple Dr. V. R. Cromer, president
of Lenoir Rhyne College, and Dr.
F. L. Conrad, president of N. C.
Senate, have been invited to be
present and bring brief messages.

Boone," Mr. Wey stated, in mak
ing announcement of the special

whose name was changed recent
ly from Blue Ridge Parkway As
sociated Chambers of Commerce,
is comprised of North Carolina
and Virginia promotional organi
zations and privately-owned faci
lities working in cooperation with
the National Park Service, which
maintains publicly owned and
operated facilities in this most
visited of all National Park pro
jects. In the past, public facili
ties have been lilted in bold type.
In the new edition, it was decid
ed at a meeting of Association
members with Supt. Sam P.
Weems of the Blue Ridge Park
way, there will be no distinction
in type. Where there is an ad
mission charge, it will be so stat
ed. Importance of the folder is
that it is distributed on the Park
way, through regular information
outlets, rangers, etc., to millions
of visitors.
The new method of listing re
presents an important change in
policy, and indicates greater in
terest on the part of federal of
ficials in encouraging develop
ment of private facilities to serve
visitors attracted to the tax-sup
