George Washington Tarts make an excellent treat for youngsters and dessert for grownups on Feb ruary 23. and they are easy to pre pare when made with self-rising flour. Self-rising Is the flour that re duces oven failures almost to the vanishing point, because the bak ing powder ingredients and salt are expertly mixed into quality flour by the miller. It makes baking easy, since it is necessary to add only shortening and liquid to make a pastry. If, due to health or other rea sons, they .are forced to give up regular employment, they can! now file a claim for social secur ity insurance and get monthly old-age payments based on their earnings during the past two years. These earnings must have been at least (50 cash in each calendar quarter of their period of employment in one household. Many other regular household workers, not yet 65, have built survivors insurance protection during the same time, Mr. Cle ment says that their dependent families are eligible for monthly benefit payments in case of the death of the insured worker. As Mr. Clement points out, both old-age and survivors insurance benefits are based on the work er's earnings. "This is why it is so important to the domestic worker to have her employer re port all of her cash wages for social security purposes," Mr. Clement declares. He says that the regular household employee can cooperate with her employer by showing her social security card. The employer needs to know the number on the worker's social security card. She copies this number on the reports she sends in on the worker's cash wages. "If all of the worker's cash wages are reported to the work er's correct social security num ber, she will get the largest old age benefit payment to which she is entitled when she gives up re gular work at age 65 or later," Mr. Clement declares. Also, the correct reporting of all cash wag es to the right social security ac count will mean payment of the largest possible benefit amounts to the worker's family in case of her death, Mr. Clement added.
