At 7:10 p. m. Sunday, the col orfully costumed cast of "Horn i|i the West" wiH begin a run through of the drama on the stage of the Daniel Boone Theatre, stopping in the midst of a scene whenever a photographer re quests it. At 9 a. m. on Monday the dress rehearsals will be re sumed for daylight pictures. The visiting lensmen will be 'guests of the Southern Appalach ian Historical Association and Estel Wagner at Blue Ridge Tour ist Court, Boone, Sunday night. Before the picture-taking begins Mondsy morning they will be Stunt* of the Association uvl Kirk's Restaurant at a country ham breakfast. '1 teaspoons baking powder 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed 1 cup. coarsely chopped walnuts 1 egg 2 tablespoons moUmiec 1V4 cups buttermilk 3 tablespoons melted butter I Sift together the flour, aalt, soda and baking powder. Add augar and walnuta. Beat egg until thick and lemon-colored. Add molasses and buttermilk. Combine with first mixture along with the melted butter. Stir only to blend ingre dients. Do not beat. This will be ?ery thick. Spoon the mixture into a well buttered loaf pan, 9x5x3 inchea, making slight hollow in center. Let stand 20 minutes before bak ing. Bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees) ior about 60 min utes or until a wooden pick thrust into the cent#r comes out clean. Tur^i out of pan onto wire rack to cool. A new bus schedule connecting Charlotte and other cities with the outdoor drama "Horn in the West" at Boone was announced this week by Queen City Coach Company, of Char lotte. J. H. Quattlebaum, vice-presi dent -in charge of traffic, announ ced that the new service will go into effect on June 26. opening date of the drama, and operate on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Satur days throughout the summer. . On those days each week, an express bus will leave the Char lotte terminal at 4 p. m., arriving at the Daniel Boone Theatre at 7:45 p. m. Curtain time for the drama is 8:15 p. m. The bus will leave Boone at 11 p. m. and arrive in Charlotte at 1 :25 a. m. , MILE-HIQH BLOOMING Purple rhododendron near the crest of Grandfather Mountain, over a mile high is at ita peak this week. This a new Blue Ridge Parkway attraction since this is the first blooming season that Grandfather's Peak has been ac cessible by motor road. The Mile-High Swinging Bridge, de dicated last autumn by Governor U instead, is also reached by the new motor roadi to the top of Grandfather, between Linville and Blowing Rock. Mile-high blooming is at its peak at the same time in Craggy Gardens, on the Parkway between Ashe ville and Mt. Mitchell, and on Roan Mountain, also reached by a new road from Bakersville. The 7th annual Rhododendron Feslival is being held atop the Roan June 20-21.
