In commenting on the begin ning of this program. Mr. Zelzah McCoury, principal of the Ban ner E!k Elementary School, point ed out that Mr. Bill Ward, one of hit teachers, was a well-known "teller of^ales" and that he felt that there were a number of old time fk)dl4k> and lowers of moun tain ballads in the area, Who would appreciate an effort to preserve their art. Mrs. Newbern Johnsons, Director of the Croq nore Inc. Homespun House, is interested in the preservation of old weaving patterns as well as the encouragement of weaving in the mountain home. Considerable interest has been shown in the past year by the tourists and visitors to the area in the purchase of authentic ftiountain crafts. One of the ob jectives of the festival will be to provide an opportunity for the advertising and sale of products made by our own folk. This first meeting is planned for the pur pose of organizing and of work ing together in making arrange ments for future activities. By mistake, the ad stated the reward to be $1,500. Boosman received a flood of re plies to his ad ? more than 500 dogs, brought by scores of people.
