Norris of Boone, will be presented
In a senior voice recital by the
muaic department of Appalachian
State Teachers College, Boone.
The concert will be Friday, February
22nd at 8:00 p. m. in the auditorium
of the Fine Arts building.
Assisting Mrs. Barnett in a joint
senior recital will be Miss Juel
Rogers, pianist, of Greensboro.
While a student at Appalachian,
Betty Sue has been a member of
the College Chorus, Orchestra,
Band, the "Appalachian Chorale"
and the Playcrafters", the latter
of which she is now serving as
president. Her program will consist
of songs by ScarlAti, Handel,
Beethoven, Schubert, Grieg, HelyHutchinson,
and selections from
the opera "Carmen" by Bizet. Mrs.
Barnett is a student of Mr. Hoft
Safrit. '

on Saturday, February 18, at the
Paynf home in Cherry Park.
The guests were first invited to
the recreation room where a program
appropriate to the season
was presented. Against a white
backdrop decorated with Valentine
hearts, some clever dance
numbers were given. First was a
tap dance by Johnny Payne and
Bobby Cook, then a solo dance by
Molly Agle. Then, in observance
of the birthday of Thomas A. Edison,
Frank Payne, Jr., gave an interesting
and informative account
of the life and achievements of
Edison, illustrating his talk with
colored pictures and slide* showing
Edison's study, laboratory,
Florida estate, etc.
Later, in the living room, several
club members participated in
a "V»(entine-in-Reverse" number,
In which True Confession*.^ were
featured. A Valentine contest fempleted
the program.
During a brief business meeting,
greetings were read from a
former member, Kiss Billie Todd
of J«ff«rson, formerly of Boone.
