Health Budget Recommended A copy of the enclosed letter baa been aent to all Board of Health members and all County Commissioners for Alleghany, Ashe, and Watauga Counties. I forward this for your information: I am forwarding to each mem ber of the Board of Health, aa 1 have been Instructed to do by the Finance Committee of the Board of Qealth, a tentative budget in cluding: the present staff at their present dissipations and salar ies, plus a new assistant sanitar ian at a salary baaed on present salary scale, plua MOO for equip ment for pie milk laboratory, phis 1800 to make poasible a full 20 weeks of oral bygiene program, plua (116.39 added to the other expense item to adequately meet this need. This budget Is unacceptable to the ehtire staff of the Diatrict Health Department I am enclos ing therefore, also a budget which we consider abaolutely minimum for the continued operation of this department. If the budget, aa directed by the finance commit tee, were adopted, according to the merit system salary acale which will go into effect July 1, 1988, four of the staff members would accept a demotion in class ifies tios because of the salary aa aet up in that budget not meeting the minimum requirements for their present claaalfication. The* four members would not accept this demotion and would resign. 1 enclose the budget that would be names ry, begining July 1. 1988, under the new salary scale, if salaries were ralaed one stay for each staff member plus any further increase made necessary to keep them In their present classification, (i. a. The minimum salary of their present claasifice tions). Added to these poaitiona are those of two new nurses? one for Watauga County and one for Ashe County? aa wel las the as sistant sanitarian already auth orised by the finance committee, plua the. other authorised funds ss itemised above. School health funds from Ashe and Watau)? counties will be available in the amount of approximately $800 to TARHEEL PLAN * j^^FOR RURAL ELECTRIC LIVING May V June Water System Specials *10.00 -'."ivvjii ? ???*.??* mm A FREE TO MEMBERS OF BLUE RIDGE ELECTRIC MEMBERSHIP CORPORATION ?
