Official Dedication For
?
Camp Joy To Be Sunday
The official dedication service
for Camp Joy will be held Sunday, |
August 14 at 2:30 p.m., at Camp
Joy.
In 19S3, Mr. Ode* Wilson and
wile, Nora Wilson, donated (our
acres of land near their home to
be used for summer camps for our
Baptiat young people and for any
and all Baptist churches to use for
group gatherings, picnics, fellow
ship meetings and associational
meetings of all types.
Since that time, under the spon
sorship of the Brotherhood, Wo
men's Missionary Union of Three
Forks Baptist Association and in
terested friends, the csjnp has
grown very rapidly. From 1993 to
the present time, buildings, at a
valuation tff >12,000, have been
constructed. These buildings con
sist of a dining room, kitchen,
bunk building and recreation
assembly building.
The _camp was held for the first
"time St CampFesti, near Foscoe,
in 1047, with an attendance of
sixty-three boys and girls. From
1949 to 1992 the camp was held
in Mr. and Mrs. Wilson's home
and since that time, the present
Camp Joy has been the site. In
twelve years the attendance has
been as follows: 387 boys, 989
girls, 13 Y. W. A., 236 Sunbeams
and 679 different persons have
attended the Camp.
There have been many Laymen
and preachers that have worked
?s a unit and they have been great
ly rewarded through the religious
growth of those attending Camp
Joy.
