News Of Our Servicemen PFC HOYLE B. COFFEY Pfc. Hoyle B. Coffey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Justin Coffey of Blowing Rock, is stationed at Honace, near Frankfurt, Germany, as a clerk-typist. Pfc. Coffey entered the service in January I960, and completed his basic training at Fort Jackson, S. C., where he also took a clerk and office training course. Kattmann, Wheaton Col lege (Illinois) senior, has been promoted to the rank of cadet first lieutenant and will serve as pla toon leader and executive of Com pany F. the college ROTC pro gram. TRAINING IN ALASKA Fort Richardson, Alaska ? Army Capt. Thomas B. Moore, son of Mrs. Martha B. Moore, 412 Greene St., Boone, N. C., is Scheduled to participate in Exercise Willow Freeze, a cold weather *yarfare field training exercise in Alaska, Feb. 9-18. The exercise will take place in a 1900-square mile area of rugged arctic terrain where temperatures range to 60 degrees below zero. Units regularly stationed in Alas ka, and skilled in arctic warfare, will defend against the attacking 82d Airborne Division paratroop ers from Fort Bragg, N. C. The exercise culminates over six weeks of special cold weather training for the paratroopers who will return to Fort Bragg upon its completion. A postal officer with the U. S. Army Alaska Support Command's Administration Service Battalion regularly stationed at Fort Rich ardson, Alaska, Captain Moore en tered the Army in June 1951. TAKING BASIC TRAINING Fort Jackson, S. Governor Sanford Endorses Heart Fund Governor Terry Sanford has de signated February "Heart Fund Month in North Carolina." The Governor referred to the fact that heart disease annually causes more than half of all deaths in the state and that "the cost in suffering to families and economic loss to the xtate is incalculable." FAA APPROVES CHANGE The Federal Aviation Agency ha* approved a structural modifi cation for Lockheed Electra air 1 inert and has raised the speed limit for the modified craft to 400 miles an hour plus. The FAA had imposed a 238 mile-an-hour erasing speed limit on Electra on March 23, 1980, af ter five of the planes had crashed. Mrs. Bell May Dies Sunday I Mr*.
