She began this home study January 4 Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Her illusion veil was held by a lace and pearl plateau. She carried orchids, valley lilies and roses. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. V. Miss Lawrence Is Honored Miss Miry Lawrence, bride elect of July 21, was guest of hon or at breakfast at the Daniel Boone Hotel on Thursday morning July 6, at ten o'clock. The twenty-five guests found tl)eir places by means of wedding bell place cards in green and white. The bride's place was mark ed with a corsage of Norma Pfeif fer lilies in tones of rote and brown. Regal lilies formed the center piece of the four-pronged table streamers of Old English ivy and clusters of yellow and dark red lilies picked up the central motif. A colorful variety of fruits was served on the breakfast plates. Ham biscuits, assorted sweet rolls and jams were passed. The hostesses, Mrs. L. H. Hoi lingsworth, Mrs. B. W. Stallings, Mrs. Herman Eggers, and Mrs. Graydon Eggers. presented the bride with a place letting in her chosen pattern of silver. Home Life Dept. Meets Thursday The Home Life Department nf the Worthwhile Women'! Club will be held Thursday evening ;it 7:30 o'clock in the adult assembly room of the Boone Methodist Church. Mrs. Robert Shank and children, Betsy and Rodger, have returned to their home in Erie* Pa., after spending the past three week* with Mrs. Shank's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Greene and rela tives of Rt. 2, Boone. Mr. Shank also visited here during the fourth of July holidays. Dr. Hoy Taylor, of Rome, Ga., and young grandson, were recent guests at Daniel Boone Hotel. They spent a day or so sight-seeing at Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, and Tweetsie Railroad, and visiting friends and relatives. Dr. Taylor, a native of Watauga County, has been professor of Eng lish at Shorter College, Rome, G?., lot many years. Mrs. Edward Vinson Jr. was matron of honor and Miss Betty Gail Forbes was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Misses Char lotte Rowe, Mary Lee Hinson, Jo ann Cooper, Shirlie Love, Jessica Cannon, Stephanie Jones, Shirley Berry and Gail Stroupe, Sandy Honeycutt of Shelby was junior bridesmaid. They wore floor length gowns of pink laffrta and carried lace fans with pink sweetheart roses, carnations and babies'-breath. The bride graduated from Brenau Academy and attended Sullins College and the University of South Carolina. She made her debut in Shelby in 1958. Mr. Llndsey is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and law school. He is a Phi Beta Kap pa. He is with the law firm of Lindsey and Schrimsher. A reception was given at the Barringer Hotel. After a trip to New York, Cape Cod and Canada the couple will live at M4-A Wake field Drive. Judges for the beautification contest were named by the council president, Mrs. John Hollar, and are as follows: Mrs. B. W. Stal ling*, Miss Cynthia Stiles, Mrs. Len Hagaman, and Mrs. W. C. Richardson. Honor certificates for outstand ing work in 1960 were given to each of the presidents of the four Boone Garden Clubs. These are state awards and were presented at the State Convention in Durham in April. Of particular interest to Boone gardeners was the display of three blue ribbons won by Mrs. B. W.
