IRC Gives EquipmentTo Local Hospital Mr. Carl Smith, Division Manager of International Res istance Company, presented, this week, on behalf of I.R.C., two new units to Watauga Hos pital; the Myosynchron, muscle stimulator, and the Megason, an ultrasonic unit. The Myosynchron is valuable in the rehabilitation of muscles and joints. Through strains, trauma, sprains, dislocations, and paralysis resulting from nerve tissue damage, whole muscle groups, are thrown into a state of inaction and become stiff, painful, and finally de stroyed. With the use of this new stimulator, restoration of function may ? be accomplished and the patient restored to normal life. The Megason ultrasonic unit produces vibrations at frequen cies of one million cycles per second. This ultrasonic energy will pass through living tissues effecting therapeutic results not achieved by any other method. ' With these advances in mod ern Medical Technology, it is no longer necessary to rely on "Grandma's" remedy of "hot soaks" for the treatment of arthritis, bursitis, dermatitis, contractures, and rheumatoid diseases. Treatment with these new units relieve crippling di seases and the duration of ill ness is shortened. Dr. H. M. Wilson, Chief of Staff, expressed appreciation from the Staff and the Hospi tal for the addition of these modern therapeutic units to the hospital armamentarium.
