section b watauga Democrat section b College Symphony Orchestra To Appear In Concert This Evening The Appalachian state Teach er* College Symphony Orchestra vill appear in a concert of light music on Thursday evening, April 4, at eight o'clock in the Fine Arts Auditorium. This is one of the first performances of this type scheduled for the orchestra, and the present pro gram Is designed for popular appeal. The orchestra is in its fif teenth season, having been org anised in 1948 by its present conductor, Dr. Nicholas Ernes ton. On April S, the orchestra was in Hickory, where It presented three children's concerts in the Hickory Public Schools. Included on the program for Thursday evening are the fol lowing selections. C., the 1903 State membership chairman of the R. I. H. A. The Roanoke Island associa tion produces "The Lost Col ony," Paul Green's symphonic drama which will be presented for the 28th season in 1963, every night except Sunday, June 29 through September 1, in the Waterside Theatre on Roanoke Island. Naval Officer Candidate School, New port, Rhode Island, and com missioned as an Ensign. A son of Mrs. Corky Owsley, of Fort Bragg, N. C. Ensign Owsley graduated from Appa lachian High School in Boone, and received an AB degree in English from Harvard Univer sity in 1962. Spring Term Superior Court Jury List Given Watauga County's Clerk of Court, Orville Foster, released Mils week the jury list (or the upcoming term, of court, slated to begin April 22. "At this time there are 139 cases on the docket," Foster said. "Host of these are for traffic violations." Of special interest will be the case of Bob Rogers, former accountant at Appalachian Col lege, accused of embezzling some $0,000. His case was post poned from the winter term of court. Morrison, secre tary to former Congressman Hugh Alexander of the Ninth North Carolina District, has joined the Washington staff of Tax Executives Institute, inc. Mrs. Morrison who is a native of Ashe County, came to Wash ington in 1943 as secretary to the late Congressman Robert L. Doughton, for many years chairman of the committee on Ways and Means, remaining in that position until Mr. Dough ton's retirement. She subse quently served with his success or, Mr. Alexander, who was de feated in the 1962 election.
