TOTAL PERFORMANCE: "1
f YOU KNEW WHAT
TBS "CM Kilir KKOWS...YOUD K DRIVING A SOUD, SUNT SUPER TORQUE FORD
This 1X1I i#d potfioie is probably the wocWi toughest test
of a cat's nwpmrioe We drive into this Car killer at 30 mph,
locking our brakes as we go so the wheels ca^t roll through
the hole as they normally would. The car slam against the far
edge of the hole with such impact that it Uteralljr bounds out.
If you added up the cumulative effect of ail 4w jars and jolts
your car's suspension system experiences in years of normal
driving, it wouldn't match the impact of one tripthrough the hole.
Yet? a Ford must run this test three times to prtJve its strength.
How can a Ford take it? Because Ford's front Suspension ha*
extra beef in spindles, springs, tuspewion a imt ? in fact, it's
about 20 pounds heavier than the front ftflpension of our
principal competitor's car.
We don't expect you to abuse your car the way we do our test
cars. But, however you drive, you'll welcave Ike extra strength
of a total performance Ford. Ford strength is teitedin a thousand
way* in Ford's laboratories and piovinf ground*? and in open
competition in the world's toughest rallies and Mock car event*.
Look at Ford's liliwii record in open competition that
year in the grueling Daytona, Riverside, and Atlanta SCO's, the
World 600 at Charlotte, N.C., and in the demanding Pure Oil
Performance Trials. Only ? cm with total performance? the best
combination of strength, balance, precision control and road
dinging suspension? could roll up so many wins.
Before you buy any new car, test-drive the solid, silent Super
Torque Ford. If you haven't driven one lately, you can't really
know what a new Ford is like. Make this important discovery; H
ITi built by Ford, if? built for performance... total performance.
