Greer-Critcher Wedding Saturday
MRS. SAMMY CRITCHER
Miss Gloria Greer, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Greer,
and Sammy Critcher, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Critcher,
were married Saturday, July
6, at 4 o'clock in the Laurel
Springs Baptist Church.
The bride wore a dress of
white Chantilly lace with sequ
ins and pearls and a full skirt.
Her illusion veil was attached
to a pearl-encrusted headpiece,
and she carried a white orchid.
Matron of honor was Mrs.
Betty Sibert, sister <of the
bride, who wore an aqua peau
de soie dress and carried a bou
quet of white roses.
The groom bad his brother.
Dwight Critcher, for beet man.
Roger Critcher was ring bearer,
and Giovonna Hartley wa<
flower girl.
The mother of the bride
Wore a blue embroidered dress
and the mother of the groom
wore a pink lace dress. Both
wore matching accessories.
The bride is a 1963 graduate
of Appalachian High School
and is employed at the North
western Bank. The groom gra
duated from Appalachian High
School and is self employed.
After a wedding trip to Ashe
ville and Gatlinburg, they are
living in Boone.

golden wedding anniversary on
June 30. The reception waa
given at the Hampton home on
Boute 4, Boone, by their daugh
ter*, Mrs. Vance Keller, Mrs.
Darius Hampton of Boone and
their son, Bonda Hampton of
Boute 4, Lenoir.
Guests were greeted by Mrs.
J. B. Jones and directed to the
dining room where the table
was presided over by Mrs. Earl
Keller, Joyce Keller, Mrs.
Wayne Hampton and Shelby
Hampton.

their daughter, Wilma, to Mr.
Robert B. Evans, son of Mrs
Agnes H. Evans, of Intervale
Road, Wellesley, Massachuset
tea, and the late Mr. Brice
Evans.
Miss Hodges is a 1962 gradu
ate of Appalachian High School
and is employed at the Watauga
County Welfare Department.
Mr. Evans is a I960 gradu
ate of Wellesley High School
and is in the United States Air
Force, stationed at Pease Air
Force Base, New Hampshire.
A fall wedding is planned.

July 6. The double ring cere
mony was performed by the
Rev. Johnny Greene at Forest
Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Mo
tella Matheson presented the
wedding muaic.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a street
length dress of chiffon with a
white lace jacket. Her short
veil of net was attached to a
crown of white satin and pearls,
and she carried a colonial bou
quet.
Mrs. Dorcas Hodges of Reese,
aunt of the bride, was matron
of honor. Best man was Mr.
Kenneth May of Reese.
The bride graduated from
Hillsboro High School and at
tended Appalachian State
Teachers College.
The groom attended Bethel
High School and is now with
Sonoco Products Co. in Ra
venna, Ohio, where the couple
will live following a wedding
trip to the Smokey Mountains.
RATTLESNAKE BITES

Patterson, teacher at Happy
Valley School, was bitten by a
rattlesnake Saturday afternoon
while she was picking beans
at her home.
She was brought to Caldwell
Memorial Hoapital here in
critical condition by her son
and remainde in an iron lung
until her condition was report
ed much improved.
'Hospital attendants said the
snake bit her en the left hand.
