Host of last week was spent
helping you, Rachel, get ready
for your trip back to the Uni
versity of Missouri. I was so
glad you called Saturday after
noon to let us know you had
arrived safely and that all was
well. This Is your last year at
college and X think it will be
your biggest and best. It is
wonderful and, at the same
time. sad. It is particularly
sad for your daddy and me . . .
as this past summer is probab
ly the last time you will ever
spend as much as three months
... at one time . . . with us. I
don't dare let myself dwell on
these thoughts very long. Hund
reds and hundreds of parents
have had to do this and I am
determined to be big and
strong, too. I got off the subject,
my dear . . . have a wonderful
vest and we will face op ta
next June when It rolls around.
Thank you for calling Wed
nesday night, Jane. It was good
to hear your voice, and we are
delighted you and Art had such
a grand vacation in Florida.
Don't become addicted to deep
sea fishing, please. We just
don't go in for that sport in
these parts and we want you
here as often as posible.
Louise and Jim Taylor of
Washington.'D. C. came through
Friday on their way over home
to visit my daddy and Aunt
Hatt. Their little 2V, year-old
daughter, Dawn, is a cute one
... and is doing remarkable
well on her first trip. As you
know, she was critically ill the
first year of her life with a
severe heart condition, but is
doing fine now. Was mighty
good to see them . . . And, they
will be moving next May to the
Hawaiian Islands for three
years. Isn't that exciting?
Betty and Hobert Dowling
honored Billle (Cooke) on her
birthday with a dinner party
for about forty guests at the
Lenoir Country Club Saturday
night. This was a lovely parts
and I don't know when we en
joyed anything more. The Dowl
ings will be returning to theii
home in Florida very soon . .
and I'll be sorry to see then

High tribute was paid to Aunt

remarkable person. It would
