WILCOX PROVOCATIVE QUESTIONS Before you make up your mind study these questions very care fully. Suppose everyone else were just like you—what kind of a world would this be? What if everyone did as you do? What would come of us? Suppose everyone else in our community took the same interest felt the same responsibility bore the same burden you do for civic and community af f a i r s-w hat would become of our city? ABOUT THE HOME What would happen to mar riage, the home, the coming generation if every father were your kind of a father? What if everyone were as humble as you—as selfless as you— as kind as you—as patient as you—as thoughful as you? What if all men were your kind of a Christian—with your kind of dedication—your commitment— your devotion? What would hap pen to the Church if all men supported it as you do ... If all men honored the Lord in their homes—their jobs—their social lives the way you do? What if your boy grows up to be just like you? He may! You owe it to him to be the kind of man whose example is safe to follow! You see we all tend to “pass the buck” to “let George do it.’* Sometimes occasions arise when a layman does not under stand the will of his leaders, and may speak out too hastily in condemnation erf their pastors or Church leaders. For ex ample, a pastor felt it was necessary to write his member ship a letter to boost their in terest in stewardship. Immedi ately the reply came from one of his members, “According to your concept, Christianity is just one continual give, give, give. The first impulse of the pastor was to answer the letter immediately with a devastating oratory of words. But as he thought and prayed about it, he found himself thinking, that CHRISTIAN SCIENCE CHURCH Blowing Rock Sunday services and Sunday School—June, July, August, September at 11 a.m.; Wednes day meeting—July and August 8 p.m. The subject for this Sunday's lesson sermon is “Substance*’. Morning Worship 11 a. m.; Training Union 6:30, Lewis Wilson, director; Evening Wor ship 7:30; Mid-Week Prayer Service 7 p. m. man is dead right! Christianity is one continual give. So the pastor wrote something like the following: “Dear Friend: Thank you for the finest definition of Christianity that I have ever seen. Christianity is one constant give, give, give. That is the way it all began. God gave. He gave His only Son. The Son gave. He gave His life upon the cross for our sins. “His disciples gave. They left all to tell the news. Most of them died a martyr’s death. Christianity has prospered to the extent Christians have learned to give, give, give.** Who are we to judge?
