Jaycettes Honor Miss Watauga At A Luncheon Last Saturday At a luncheon in her honor Saturday at I^liday Inn, Miss Myra Davis, Miss Watauga, gave the following response to her Jaycette hostesses and well wishers. “You know it is very hard to stand up in front of a group, who have done so much for you, and tell them how thankful you are. I don’t think that Webster’s Dic tionary has come up with any word to express such great thanks. If they had, I am sure I could use that word now. “There have been so many people who have helped me in so many ways through the past six months since I was crown ed Miss Watauga County. “Our town merchants, with gifts and generous help, have made my being your queen a very great pleasure. “I would like to express my thanks to the Jaycees and Jay cettes who have given me such loyal support and help whenever I needed it. I would especially like to thank my Daddy and Mama Jaycee and Jaycette, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Strother. These two marvelous people have given so freely of their time and effort to make my reign as Miss Wa tauga County more lasting and more enjoyable. “Last but not least, I would like to thank my parents, be cause without them I just wouldn’t have been possible. They both have been such great understanding people; both in time and work and, of course, those little money matters which have to be taken care of, and I love them both very much for being so patient with me. “One week from Monday, on June 10, I will leave for the Miss North Carolina Pageant. I will take with me more confidence because the people at home are behind me. I am going with the idea that I haven’t been beaten yet. I hope to bring the crown home to you. Maybe I won’t, but I will be down there giving it all “I would like to end by using a verse which expresses what I have tried to tell you in very few words. Y onahlossee Theatre BLOWING ROCK, N. C.
