of Cupid Bingo and prizes for
winning games were awarded
to Mrs. Joe Williams and Mrs.
Frank Payne.
The honoree was presented
a corsage of yellow daisy

silver in her chosen pattern.

rayon crepe, featuring scooped
neckline and fitted empire
bodice. Illusion sleeves ended
in calla points at the wrist and
the detachable chapel train fell
from crepe bows at the shoul
ders. Her ballerina length veil
of imported silk illusion was
held by a cluster of Chantilly
lace enhanced with seed pearls
and crystals. She carried a
lace-covered white Bible with
a yellow-throated orchid, white
carnations and lily erf the valley.
Maid of honor was Miss Re
becca Earp of Vilas who wore
a floor length sheath of maize
yellow. It featured a fitted bod
ice with empire waistline and
bell sleeves, accented by a de
tachable train which fell from
the empire waist. Her head
piece was a matching pillbox
overlaid with an imported silk
illusion circular veil. Mrs. Lo
gan Wiseman of Lenoir and Mrs.
Thomas H. Hayes were their
sister’s bridesmaids. They
wore dresses of mint green
identical to that of the honor
attendant and each carried a
single long-stemmed yellow
mum.
Miss Tressa Tester of Elk
Park was flower girl. She was
dressed in a formal mint green
dress designed identical to the
other attendants and carried
a basket of small daisy poms.
Master David Ward of Sugar
Grove, carrying a white pillow
bordered with silk illusion and
trimmed with lily of the valley,
served as ring bearer.
Everett Tester was his broth
er's best man. Ushers were
Marshall Baird of Boone and
Kenneth May of Sugar Grove.
For a wedding trip to Flori
da, the bride wore a white
ensemble with yellow acces
sories and the orchid from
her bouquet.
After the ceremony a re
ception was held at the home
of the bride’s parents on Laurel
Drive in Boone.
Miss Baird was honored at
a pre-nuptial shower given by
Mrs. Martina Ford of Blowing
Bock at the home of Mrs. Roy
Baird of Boone. The candlelit
table was covered with blue
overlaid with beige lace. Mints,
nuts, punch and miniature cakes
were served to the guests. The
bride received many lovely
gifts.

The Blue Ridge Garden Club
met June 19 at the Woman’s
Club House with Mesdames Paul
Coffey, Wayne Richardson and
W. M. Matheson as hostesses
for the luncheon meeting.
Eighteen members and three
guests, Mrs. Walter Cook and
Miss Nancy Cook of Pasadena,
Calif., sister and niece of Mrs.
B. W. Stallings, and Mrs.Grady
Farthing, were present.

conducted by Mrs. Ed Hall,
president, reports on town beau
tification projects were made
by Mrs. G. K. Mbose, Mrs.
Wayne Richardson and Mrs.
Lee Reynolds. Mrs. Hall told of
the litter clean-up project she
and Mr. Hall conducted in their
area and Mrs. Frank Payne
described the landscaping pro
ject she and Mr. Payne have
started at the corner of East
and West Brook Streets. A con
tribution was voted for the land
scaping project at Watauga Hos
pital.

flower study on the Indian Pink.
The program, “Carefree
Perennials”, was presented by
Mrs. J. B. Winkler who stated
that while very few plants were
carefree, many favorite peren
nials were like old friends com
ing back each year and requiring
only minumum care. These pro
vide a long season of bloom
and live for many years.
Mrs. Winkler cited as an ex
ample the peonies that have been
growing in the same spot in
the Winkler garden for more
than 40 years. Grouping peren
nials into spring, summer and
autumn bloomers, Mrs. Winkler
listed such old favorites as
primroses, bleeding heart, lily
of the valley, peonies, day lilies,
astilbe, phlox, hardy asters and
mums as plants that will give
maximum pleasure to the gar
dener for minimum care.

Reunion To Be Held
The annual reunion and alumni
meeting of the Konnarock Luth
eran School will be held on Sat
