wed to Dennis Fred Perry of
Boone Saturday afternoon in the
Moncure (N.C.) Baptist Church.
The Rev. Robert L. Mobley
of Richmond, Va., officiated at
the double-ring ceremony and
was assisted by the Rev. Gene
Vallini of Moncure.
The bride chose a gown of
ivory silk organza over peau
de soie designed with cap
sleeves and off-shoulder neck
line and a cathedral length train.
Medallions erf embroidered Al
encon lace decorated the bodice
and skirt and her fingertip veil
of silk illusion was held by a
lace and pearl headpiece. The
bride carried a bouquet of
French carnations and lillies
of the valley.
W. T. Barnes gave his daugh
ter in marriage. Maid of honor
was Miss Carolyn Barnes and
attendants were Miss Lana
Perry of Boone, Miss Linda
Robinson of Candler and Mrs.
David Callahan of Asheville.

Miss Linda Louise Thomas and Mr. Jerry Dean Farmer,
both of Sugar Grove, were married at 7 pjn. Saturday, Aug.
3, at the home of the bride. The Rev. Gene Smith officiated

Miss Margaret Main presented piano music for the wedding.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Thomas of
Sugar Grove and attended Watauga HighSchool.She will complete
her senior year at Hudson High School this year.
Mr. Farmer is an employee of Caldwell Furniture Company
in Lenoir. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Farmer of Sugar
Grove.

Fred McNeil manager of the
Boone Chamber of Commerce,
addressed the Worthwhile Wo
man’s Club Thursday and raised
the questions “What’s wrong
with Boone and how can it be
improved?*’
He offered many suggestions
on methods to improve Boone
such as keeping home grounds
neat and clean, interesting Boy
and Girl Scouts in an anti
litter campaign, establishment
of an inter-club council in
Boone and location of street
signs.
During the business meeting,

appointed a nominating com
mittee consisting of Mrs. Her

The double-ring ceremony

Faglier.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her father and wore a
floor length bridal gown of
white linen and venise lace.
The gown featured a square
neckline and three quarter
length sleeves. Her shoulder
length veil fell from a rose
petalled headpiece. She car
ried a bouquet of white or
chids on a white satin cov
ered prayer book.
Miss Cheri Smith was her
cousin’s maid of honor. Other
