Miss Fannie Hobowsky entertained at a surprise party Monday evening at 7:30 at her home on West King Street, celebrating the birthday of her sister, Miss Esther Hobowsky. Following dancing and cards the guests, which numbered about ten, were served delightful refreshments by the hostess. Sonny Stillman, young son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Stillman, was taken to the Protestant Hospital, Norfolk, Va., Tuesday morning. He was oper ated on for appendicitis. The Chowan District B. Y. P. U. Association will meet at the Edenton Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at - 3:00 o’clock. The theme for the af ternoon will be “Christianity^(p The- Home.” W. Scott Privott, Y. P. U. deacon, of the Edenton Church, will make the inspirational address on the theme, and Miss Addie Mae Cooke, of Gatesville, the Association- ‘ al President, will make a talk on the “Need of a Family Altar.” Special music will be furnished by the Rocky Hock Church. A skit, “In His Pres ence,” will be presented by the Eden ton B. Y. P. U’s. Since the Edenton Church is the only church in the County , that has a B. Y. P. U. organization, Mra. John Lee Spruill, District Leader, wishes to have delegates from all the church es in order to create interest so that a B. Y. P. U. may be organized in all the churches. BERTIE COUPLE MARRIED Charlie Williams and Betty Doug las, colored couple of Bertie County, were issued a marriage license this, week by Register of Deeds Maurice Bunch.
