spent the past two weeks with her

Miss Elizabeth Elliott, a student at
Meredith College, Raleigh, will spend
the holidays with her mother, Mrs. T.
W. Elliott on East Water Street.
Miss Sallie Margaret Elliott, who is
a member of the school faculty at
Crewe, Va., is with her mother, Mrs.
John M. Elliott, for the Christmas
holidays.

was in town Monday shopping.

R. T. BRYANT CIRCLE MEETS
MONDAY WITH MRS. BYRUM
Circle R. T. Bryant, of the Wom
an’s Missionary Society of the Bap
tist Church met Monday afternoon at
3:30 o’clock at the home of Mrs. T. C.
Byrum on West Eden Street with
nine members present.
The meeting opened with prayer,
followed with Scripture reading by
Mrs. J. Frank White, Sr. “Silent
Night” was sung by Mrs. T. C. By
rum, after which Mrs. W. S. Perry
read a poem. Following a song, the
roll was called and minutes of the
previous meeting were read and ap
proved. After all business was
transacted, the Circle Avas invited to
meet in January Avith Mrs. John M.
Harrell. The meeting was dismissed
with a prayer.
The hostess served delightful re
freshments to those present: Mes

BYRD’S CLUB MET MONDAY
Byrd’ Woman’s Club met Monday
afternoon with Mrs. Evie Umphlett
at her home on the Y’eopim Road.
Several members were present and
an enjoyable meeting was held. The
hostess served a salad course and a
sweet course. This was the last meet
ing of the year. Miss Caldwell, who
is leaving soon to be married, was
presented with a nice gift from the
Club.

Mr. Daughtry Bunch, of Winton,
and Miss Aggies McClenny, of Eden
ton, were married Saturday, Dec. 15,
in Suffolk, Va. They will make their
home in Rocky Hock. Friends wish

Twenty-eight applications for mem
bership in Chowan Tribe of Red Men
were presented at Monday night’s
meeting, when the hall was filled
with members. Much interest is
manifest in the attendance coyest
which closes Monday, December 31, in
which Raleigh Hollowell’s side is now
leading Joe Habit and his workers.
The regular meeting on Monday
night has been called off due to the
holidays.

WARDS WOMEN MEET
A meeting of the Ward Woman’s
Club was held Tuesday night at the
home of Mrs. J. E. Perry at Gliden,
at which the husbands and children
of the members were invited. A very
interesting meeting was held during
which Miss Nelle Caldwell was pre
sented a wedding present from the
Club. Delicious refreshments were
served.
