Jackson at fended the funeral of Walter Jack son in Hertford Tuesday afternoon. Miss Ada Cozzens and Miss Clara Meade Smith left Tuesday for Cole rain, where they will be the guests of Miss Pearl Miller for a few days. Miss Elizabeth Smith is spending a month with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Smith. Miss Smith is in training in the Protestant Hospi tal, Norfolk, Va. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Comer, Jr., spent the week-end in Raleigh with Mr. Comer’s parents. Miss Marie Spruill spent Tuesday in Norfolk, Va. Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Walters, of Tarboro, were Sunday afternoon guests of Miss Louise Smith on West Queen Street. Mrs. George Smith and two daugh ters, Misses Elizabeth and Lena, left Wednesday to spend several days in Rocky Mount as the guests of Mrs. Smith’s brother, Mr. R. L. Woodard. Mrs. Harry Crummy and two lit tle daughters spent the week-end at Nags Head and Manteo. They were accompanied home by Mrs. J. V. Johnson, who will spend the week with Mrs. Crummy. Miss Sophie Little, of Williamston, and Miss Anne Jones, of Buxton, -visited Miss Sarah'Burton Monday night. Mrs. Pugh Roberson and daughter, Miss Grizzell, have returned to their home on King Street from Clinton, where they spent several weeks with Mrs. Roberson’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Miss Annie Mae Overton is spend ing sometime in Rocky Mount as the guest of Miss Frances Lancaster. Dr. Fred Bond, of Brooklyn, N. Leary, and Mrs. Leary. Mrs. H. S. Yonge has returned from Richmond, Va., where she spent the past few months. YOUNG WOMAN’S BIBLE CLASS ELECTS OFFICERS AT MEETING The Young Woman’s Bible Class oT the Edenton Baptist Sunday School met Tuesday evening with Miss Doro. thy Holmes on Granville Street. The meeting was in charge of the presi dent, Mrs. Edna Bass, and, opened with a hymn. Mrs. C. T. Doughtie offered prayer, and Mrs- Chas. T. Hollowell, teacher, read the 4th chap ter of the book now being studied. Following the disposal of routine business, new business, under which head came the election of officers, was taken up. The following officers will be in charge of the July meet ing: Mrs. Shelton Moore, president; Miss Nannie Ward, first vice presi dent; Miss Bernice Williams, second vice president; Mrs. J. A. Curran, third vice president; Sliss Dorothy Holme's, secretary; Mrs. Willie Mor ris, treasurer. The July meeting will be held with Mrs. Raleigh Hollowell. Contract was played at four tables, and at the end of the progressions high score prize was awarded Miss Helen Goodwin. The honoree was presented a lovely guest prize. Episcopal Auxiliary Meets In Windsor The annual “get together” meeting of the Episcopal Auxiliary of the Eastern Diocese, District No. 8, which comprises Roxobel, Kelford, Williamston, Hamilton, Wood ville, Windsor, and Avoca, was held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, in Wind sor, on Wednesday. A large crowd attended the meeting. Services be gan with the celebration of Holy Communion by the Rev. Mr. Mackie, . rector of St. Thomas. The address of welcome was delivered by Mrs- F. M. Duns tan, and was responded tc by Mrs. Stephen Norfleet, of Kelford, Mrs. Fred Ouland, of Washington, N. C., and Mrs. J. G. Staton, of Wil liamston, made very interesting talks. Several informal talks and discussions were heard. New officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: Miss Effie Waldo, of Hamilton, succeeds Miss Stella Phelps, of Woodville, as presi dent; and Mrs. Stephen Norfleet, of Kelford was named vice president, with Mrs. Beal, of Hamilton, as sec retary. Noon day prayers were said by Rev. Mr. Moseley, of Williamston. Mrs. C. J. Sawyer and Mrs. Edd Per ry rendered a lovely duet. Luncheon was served by the ladies of St. Thomas in the Woman’s Club rooms.
