Edenton Plays Sanford In Rocky Mount Friday (Continued from Page One) the two teams, except that due to ! Sanford having to travel a longer distance, Edenton will have to furnish a new football for the game. In event Edenton wins from San ford Friday, they will play Mt. Airy at Chapel Hill Friday following Thanksgiving Day for the State Class B championship. Mt ; Airy won the western championship last Friday when they defeated Reidsville 12 to 0. A number of the Mt. Airy plays and, supporters will attend the game Fri day in Rocky Mount obviously to be come acquainted with the plays and style of play of the Edenton Aces. The largest pep meeting of the, year is scheduled to be held Thursday jdght in the Court House, when some of Edenton’s most loyal fans will ad-, dress the students, and plans made for the trip to Rocky Mount. The Edenton team will leave Fri day morning, stopping at Tarboro for;' a light lunch, and upon arrival at Rocky Mount will make their head-, quarters at the Y. M. C. A. f RYLAND 1 1 ‘ O. C. Ward made a business trip to Edenton Friday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Ward and chil- Mren, William, Lehman and Lelia Faye, and Mrs. H. N. Ward; Mrs. Joe Byrum and daughter, Miss Montaze, and son, Forrest, and Thomas Davis from near Cannon’s Ferry, spent Sunday with Mrs. Harriett Parks and Miss Mary Lee Davis. Mr. and Mrs. N. Q. Ward and son, Eugene Ward, of Belvidere, visited in the home of R. S. Ward Monday afternoon of last week. Mrs. D. T. Ward was in Edenton Saturday afternoon shopping. Because of the rain Sunday there was no Sunday School. It seems a pity that a little rain can so easily keep people from attending Sunday ■School and .church services, when a regular downpour cannot keep them from going on about as usual during the week. How many have ever considered that the same God who takes care of them in rainy, bad 'weather during the week, will take care of them when they go to wor ship Him, regardless of weather con ditions ? Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Copeland and sons visited Mrs. Ella Mae Ward on Sunday afternoon.- Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Chappell were in Edenton Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Hatteras Ward and children spent Saturday in Suffolk, Virginia, where Mrs. Ward consulted an oculist. Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Byrum and sons spent Sunday at Aulander with , friends. They met there their son, Garland Byrum, a student at Wake Forest, and their daughter, Miss Pau line Byrum, a student at Chowan who were spending the week end with friends. Mr. and Mrs. Julian E. Ward and son, George Case, of Edenton, visited Mr. Ward’s mother, Mrs. H. N. Ward, Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Herbert Lane is spending much of her time with her mother, Mrs. Mary Phthisic, near Belvidere- Mrs. Phthisic is very ill, little hope being entertained for her recovery. | GUM POND 1 \ > llr. and Mrs. Lonnie Bunch spent „last Friday in Elizabeth City.
