Town Council Proceedings Eden ton, N. C., June 9th, 1936. | The Town Council met this day in the Town Office at 8 o’clock P. M., in Jugular monthly session. I Present? E. W. Spires, Mayor; A. 1 G. Byrum, W. E. Bond, G. M. Byrum, T. W. Jones, O. B. Perry and L. P. 'Williams. Minutes of the previous meeting WS.Jre read and approved. On motion of A. G. Byrum, second -1 «d by G. M. Byrum, the Revenue Act is amended to read as follows: “For wholesale beer distributors or dealers an annual license tax of 320.00 shall be charged.’’ On motion G. M. Byrum, seconded by T. W. Jones, the following reso lution was unanimously adopted: Be it resolved that the Town of Eden ton hereby accepts Schedule No. 18 i which is offered by the Virginia Electric and Power Company in sub stitution for wholesale Industrial Power Schedule No. 7, under which service is now being supplied to said . Town of Eden ton, whereby a reduc tion in rate as per new schedule will be effected. On motion of T. W. Jones, seconded by L. P. Williams, contract is award ed to A. T. Allen and Company to audit the Town and E. A W. Dept, books for the sum of 3125 for fiscal year aiding June 30th, 1936. On motion of G. M. Byrum, second ed by O. B. Perry, the E. 4 W. Dept, bills amounting to $3,920 are ordered paid. On motion of 0. B. Perry, second ed by T. W. John White Assigned New Seat Number 26 According to information from .Raleigh, John White, newly nominat ed Representative in the General 'Assembly from Chowan County, has been assigned seat number 26 in the I House of Representatives. This is regarded as one of the best seats available at the present time. Commissioners’ Proceedings • The County Commissioners met Monday, June 15, 1936, with a full Board present to revise the tax books. First Township D. M. Reeves Grocery Saleß Com pany reduced from 33,000 to 32,500. Mrs. J. S- Northcott’s residence reduced from SI,BOO to 31,600. S. E. Morris’ vacant lot on Gran ville Street reduced from 3200 to -3100. L. C. Bunch property on Brayhall reduced from 37,850 to 37,500. W. A. Everett’s residence reduced from 34,200 to 34,000. Minnie C. White Estate residence on Queen Street raised from 31,760 to 32,500. * Third Township T. L. Ward property reduced from SB,OOO to $6300.
