' MB LING W»TH THE MXghrv ambler By “LITTLE BUFF’ j Notes From the Cuff The best “smart saying” the Ramb ler heard last week-end was broad cast by the newsies in Durham, sell ing sports extras after the game: “Georgia Tech’s Tornado only a breeze!” .... Tom Burnette came through with flying colors for the Carolina team, by using his educated toe on the ex tra points. In other words the dif ference between victory and possible defeat. _J Three Cheers for N. C. State!!! They won a game .... RAMBLER Rambler Loses High Average With the wind blowing against the Rambler last week-end, causing him to miss 8 and tie 2 out of his 35 at tempted predictions, his present av erage is 66 right, 15 wrong and 4 ties out of 85 games during the last three week-ends. This week the contests seem to be as close as ever with neither team having any great advantage in most of the games. A great deal depends on the out come of two games for the State of North Carolina —Duke-Tennesse, and the Carolina-Tulane battles. Should both Duke and Carolina come through victorious, the set-up would not only be perfect for the Carolina-Duke game, but also might have a bearing on the eastern team selected to play in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day. Should they get through their tough opponents this Saturday they stand a better than even chance to participate in the Tournament of Roses. The Rambler changed tactics this week in making his selections in this State. Last week he picked only one North Carolina team to win, but this week he has gone the limit in back ing the Old North State aggrega tions, although he is going to have to have an enormous share of luck on his side to come out on top. At that, here they are, 40 of them this week—Boy, the Rambler is sure ly a glutton for punishment. North Carolina - Tulane Things look mighty black for the Tar Heels, with only an outside chance to win, but here’s hoping— Duke-Tennessee —Tennessee should prove a real test against the Devils, but not quite. N. C. State-V. P. I.—The Rambler can’t figure out that State team, but CHOWAN CLUB MEETS On Monday, October 12th, the Chowan Woman’s Club, eleven in number, met at the E. N.
