PAGE TWO Town Council Proceedings Edenton. N. C„ Dec. Sth, 1936. TV Town Council met this day in the Town office at 8 o’clock P. M., in | tefrular monthly session. Present: L. P. Williams, Mayor pro tern, pre-‘ siding; 0. B. Perry, A. G. Byrum, G. M. Byrum and W. E. Bond. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. It was moved and carried that the Town donate one of the Revolution ary cannons to the Mariners' Mu seum, Newport News, Va., the one at the corner of Queen and Gran ville Streets to be taken. On motion of G. M. Byrum and seconded by W. E. Bond E. 4 W. Dept, lulls amounting to $3,075.26 are ordered paid. On motion of O. B. Perry and seconded hy W. E. Wimbome, Miss Pattie Winbome and Hutchings Winbome spent Sunday in Durham with Mrs. Ben Skinner. Miss Louise Bush spent Sunday ' night with Miss Sara Winbome. Miss Charlotte Elliott, of Edenton, spent the week-end with Miss Mary Winbome Evans. Misses Myra Bunch, Eunice Hobbs, ( Lois Savage, Marian Fiske and May , Belle Edwards spent Saturday in ’ Norfolk, Va, Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Baumgardner ( and daughter visited Mr. and Mrs. , R. H. Hollowell Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hollowell, of Edenton, were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Hollowell Saturday ' evening. ] Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Sutton have moved into the home formerly occu pied by Mr. and Mrs. P. B. Dail. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Hollowell and son spent Sundav evening with Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Leary, Sr., in Rocky Hoek. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hollowell and son, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Hollowell and daughter visited Mr. and Mrs. j Raleigh Hcbbs, of Hobbsville, on | Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Fred White was brought home from a Norfolk, Va., hospital : Friday and is getting on nicely. I Mrs. R. W. Leary, Jr., of Edenton, visited Mrs. C. J. Hollowell Monday afternoon. Chow an Club Holds Monthly Meeting On Monday, December 14th, fifteen women of the Chowan Woman’s Club met Mrs. Winslow at the P. L. Baumgardner home. The roll call was enlivened by the reciting of short Christmas poems. The treasurer reported the feder ated dues paid, and $5.80 to Selig. Most of the time was taken up with plans for a Christmas party to the husbands of the Club and to the teachers of the Chowan High School. This party is to be given on Thurs day evening, December 17th. in the Odd Fellows Hall near by Cisco, j After the singing of “Silent j Night." Mrs. Jno. T. Byrum gave a literary program on Christmas, the outstanding part of which was the reading from Ben Hur of the Birth of Christ by Mrs. B. W. Evans.
