PAGE TWO 88 Attend Family Minion At Gliden On Sunday, May 2nd, a delightful family reunion was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. W. White, at Gliden, the occasion being in cele bration of Mr. White’s 59th birth day. Mr. White went to Sunday School as usual, Sunday morning. On returning home fye was. very greatly surprised to find his children, his brother and sisters and their families awaiting him. At noon a long table was placed in the back yard and filled with everything that it takes to compose a tempting picnic dinner. Each family contri buted a part of the food, and each person present enjoyed the meal. In the afternoon the grown people talk ed together over old times and watched the children play various games. Some of the men amused themselves throwing horseshoes and pitching dollars. Mr. White received quite a collec tion of useful gifts. The 88 present included: Mr. and Mrs. J. M. White and family, of Suffolk, Va.; Mr. and Mrs. Norman White and family and Mrs. Mary Lane, of Myrtle, Va.; Mr. and Mrs. Carlton White, of Newport News, Va.; Mr. and Mrs. L. D. White and daughter, Sybil, Mr. and Mrs. Mac- Kay Hollowell and children, Mr. and Mrs. Earl White, Mr. and Mrs. Ra leigh White and Miss Dorothy Hobbs, of Hobbsville; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ward and Myra White, of Tyner; Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh Parrish and family, of Rocky Hock; Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Parks and family, and Miss Rosa Parks, of Ryland; Mr. and Mrs. George Walker and children, of Sunbury; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Parks and baby, Wince White, Miss Mary White, Mr. and Mrs. F. Vaudeville Show At Theatre On Tuesday “Gentlemen Meet the Ladies” is the title of a vaudeville show to be presented at the Taylor Theatre Tuesday matinee and night. The show, unc’/.' the direction of Marie ..Purl, comes highly recompnended and includes the West Virgghra Swing Kings, a hot swing band; Reggie Vestal, a young light comedian; Russ Jones, ice skaters presenting a little ice carnival; Betty Green, cute little blues singer; the Nevo Sisters, who do the latest futuristic dances; the Sophisticated Ladies, specialty dancers and Herbert Roland, bring ing Hollywood’s latest dance crea tions. ‘ MERRY HILL 1 > Miss Mary Adams, member of the Faulkland faculty, has returned to her home for the summer. Miss Ethel Callis spent the week end with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Charles Callis in Colerain. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Williams and son, Frank, Jr., of Norfolk, Va., were guests of Mrs. Williams’ pa rents Mr. and Mrs. Cadmus Capehart Sunday. Cullen Capehart and Bob Luck, of Sutton’s. Fishery, were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cad Capehart Sun day. Chet White and Fred Bowen of Windsor were week-end guests of their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Cadmus Capehart and daughters, Ruth and Clara Crumpler, were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. B. G. Willis Saturday. James Keeter of Fort Monroe, Va., was the week-end guests of his pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Keeter. Mr. and Mrs. John Keeter and family of Edenton visited relatives here on Sunday. Mrs. W. R. Capehart of Norfolk, Va., is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Capehart at Scotch Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sawyer and’ son, Charles Os Rocky Mount, have moved to their cottage at Eden House Beach for the summer. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Bell, of Nor folk, Va., were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Sawyer on Sunday i Mrs. Bell remained for a few days. Mrs. C. J. Sawyer and Mrs. H. M. Bell were over night guest at Scotch Hall on Tuesday. New Sunday Cchool rooms have been added to the Baptist Church here. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Williams, Miss es Frances Maness, Mary Frances Hedgepeth, and Marie Riddick were in Norfolk, Va., on Saturday. Friends will regrete to learn of the serious illness of Mr. J. W. White. Our sympathy is with Mrs. White and the fsunily. The play “Beads on A String” is announced for Msy44th. Men Os Enterprise Repay Hospitality Os Club Members The ladies of the Enterprise Club together with their children and a few invited friends, were guests at a most delectable shad supper at -the Enterprise Club House late Friday afternoon. The men of the com munity took this means of repaying the hospitality of the ladies at sup per and parties which they had en joyed in the past. The long serving table in the yard was replete with delicious shad, all kinds of breads, slaw, hot coffee and iced drinks. The foods were so ap petizingly cooked that the ladies willingly agreed to let their hus bands don the cook’s apron in their stead at any future time.
