Miss Evelyn Brown attended the Carolina-Fordham football game at Chapel Hill Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. George Harrell spent Sunday in Washington, N. C., visiting with relatives. Heywood Ziegler, Jr., has returned home after spending the summer in Hendersonville and Asheville. Mrs. H. H. Preston will return the latter part of the week from Stokes- McCoy Hospital, Norfolk, Va., where she underwent a tonsilectomy. Mrs. A. L. Midyette, of Swan Quar ter, came Friday to visit with her sister, Mrs. T. J. Hoskins, Jr. Mr. Midyette and their son, Norfleet, joined her Sunday and she returned home with them. Dr. and Mrs. Forney are visiting in the East during an extended wedding trip. Mrs. M. R. Warden, the former Miss Marguerite Goodwin, who spent a few days last week visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Goodwin, of near Edenton, left Tues day to join her husband in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he has accepted a position as construction engineer with the Remington Arms Manufac turing Company. Mrs. T. C. Byrum and Mrs. Rid dick Chappell, of Hertford, have gone to Dayton, Ohio, where they will at tend the wedding of Mrs. Chappell’s son to Miss Mary Niehus, of Dayton. Mrs. Annie White went to Hertford Monday to visit with her sister, Mrs. Ed White. W. T. White, who after several days’ illness was thought to be on the road to recovery, suffered a re lapse this week and is now confined to his bed. Mr. and Mrs. V. N. Bell is quite ill at his home on West Queen Street, having suffer ed several attacks of angina this week. Wil liams, and Mr. Williams. Peanut Display Sent To British Harvest Festival C. L. AJcCullers, secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, acting on Governor J. Melville Broughton’s suggestion to Clerk of Court E. W.’ Spires, on Sunday mailed a special delivery package containing a number of splendid specimens of Chowan County peanuts for display in the British Harvet Festival to be held in New York this month. In the special delivery package sent to New York, specimens of pea nut stalks and peanuts on the vine were sent sot the display. CHOWAN HIGH SCHOOL P. T. A. HOLDS FIRST MEET OF YEAR The Parent-Teacher Association of Chowan High School met at the school building on Thursday evening for the first meeting of the school year. Mrs. H. H. Lane, president, called the meeting to order and pre sided. She read the Scripture lesson. After roll call, the report of the treasurer was read by the secretary, Mrs. R. H. Hollowell. Mr. Barnett, principal, suggested that SSO be spent for basketball equipment and SSO for playground equipment. The First Grade will have charge of the program for the November meeting. A prize will be given to the room having the most members present at each meeting. The Fourth and Sev enth Grades tied this month. Several new members were wel comed Thursday evening. The meeting will be held on the first Tuesday night in the month at 7:30 o’clock.
