PAGE TWO Class Day Exercise Feature Os 1942 Finals At School Pageant One of Best Entertainments In Edenton FINE COSTUMES Youngsters Take Parts More Like Group of Professionals What was no doubt one of the best entertainments ever presented in Edenton school took place Thursday night when Class Day exercises were held. The exercises, in the form of a patriotic pageant, “Freedom For ever,” was directed by Miss Lucille Clark, senior class adviser, who was assisted by a few others. The pa geant portrayed the various phases of the development of America, and the whole affair reflected distinct credit upon Miss Clark and her as sistants and those taking part, who carried out their parts in each in stance more like professional actors than a group of school children. Aside from the extremely timely theme of the pageant, the costumes were very appropriate and beautifully designed, which also added no little to the success of the entertainment. Miss Cora Edward Bond, salutator ian of the class, presented a very well delivered and appropriate ad dress at the opening of the pageant, which included scenes from the days of the Pilgrims up to the present when the nation is again at war to preserve its freedom. Adding to the success of the enter tainment was music by the high school orchestra, directed by C. L. McCullers. Music was rendered prior to the staging of the pageant and throughout music appropriate for the various scenes added to the signifi cance of the entertainment as a whole. Those taking part on the program were as follows: Salutatorian, Cora Edward Bond. America, Norma Perry. Senior, Virginia Yates. Narrator, Robert Harrell. Pilgrims, Hurley Bunch, Winifred Hollowell, Joyce Moore, Philip Mc- Mullan, Rodney Harrell, Leonard Sutton, Hoskins Bass. Minister, Nick Gardner. Indians, Mary Goodwin, Laura Satterfield, Neanie Bunch, Tom Shep ard, Howard Cayton, Jasper Hassell. Freedom, Marcia Kepler. Patrick Henry, John Oliver. Fifer, Jimmy Earnhardt. Drummer, Calvin Mills.
