At the beginning of the school year, the L Class elected Beatrice Byrum as " president; Myra White, vice presi dent; Ruth Evans, secretary-treas urer; B. T. Boyd, Jr. Marine Boxers Win Over Harvey Point In Initial Match Sgt Ray McKnight and Sammy Magro Fea ture Attraction Marines of the local air station won their first boxing meet of the season by defeating a strong Harvey Point outfit 4-3 Saturday night at Harvey Point. The bill consisted of eight bouts of three minutes each, seven of which were decided by de cisions. The feature attraction was a bout between Sgt Ray McKnight aid Sammy Magro once rated fifth among the welterweights of the country. This bout was extremely interesting, both showing good sportsmanship and a hard, clean fight. The Marines started like a whirl wind, winning the first five fights, only to be calmed and dropping the last three. G. Smith won a decision from Potta; J. Bujold won a decision from Dowd in a very close match; G. Jones dropped his man twice to the canvas in the second round, which proved to be the only knock downs of the meet; P. Lingo slugged his way to win over his opponent; A. _ Sainato dropped a very close de cision to G. H. Horsley; C. Miller one of the best fights of the evening only to be defeated by Lucky Tilton in the last round; D. Scalese fought one of the gamest fights only to drop the decision to a more aggressive fighter.
