Bauer \ was replaced in the eighth inning by I Clayton Eure after Edenton tied the score at 2-2 in the sixth inning. He allowed only four hits when he was relieved by Eure, One of which was a hiimc rtin by John Byrum. The Indians took an early lead, scoring one run in the first when I Claude Brinn sent one of Jordan's I fast halls Over left field fence. Edenton failed to get a hit off Bauer until the fourth when both Joint By rum and Jim Thorne singled. Claud Griffin and Harry Lassiter made the other two . hits. The Indians collected five hits oil Jordan, four of which were made iii ■ the first three innings and included Brinn’s homer. Red Kimbrel! was the,, leading batter for the visitors, making two of the five hits. Jordan fanned ten of the visiting batters, whileHauer was credited with eight strike-outs. Jim Edwards was behind the plate for Edenton and Tommy Reeves was the visiting catcher. The. game was very interesting and hard-fought throughout, so that the large crowd of fans were treated to. a, very thrilling game. Edenton 11. Edenton •'>, Colerain 1 With Lester Jordan on the mound Friday night the Edenton Colonials downed Colerain 5 to 1. The visitors ; .found Jordan for five hits, while 15 j lof the Colerain hatters went out by ( :way of the strike-out route. The Colonials touched Marion Lassiter, Colerain pitcher, for eight safeties, three of which Were made in the third inning by John Byrum, Jim Edwards and Jim Thorne and ac-.j counted for three runs. One run was scored in each of the first and sev enth innings. John Bvrum tripled in the first and scored on Jim Thorne's long fly, and in the eighth Thorne singled and later scored on an error. Jordan was master of the situation throughout and while the visitors threatened a number of times, he tightened in tile pinches. Edenton 8. Elizabeth City 1 In a game Sunday afternoon on Hicks Field, the Colonials had little difficulty in defeating the Elizabeth City Senators 8-1. The locals took an early- lead. Scoring a run in the first inning when Joe Wheeler singl ed. John Byrum walked and both runners advanced on Jim Thorne’s sacrifice. Wheeler scored on a long fly by Jim Edwards. In a big second inning the Colonials chalked up six runs, four of which were scored when Jim Edwards clouted a home run with the bases loaded.
